Hurdling Handicaps Speaking Ministry is looking for volunteer ministry partners known as the Great Getaway Missionary (GGM) for the 2024 Great Getaway Family Retreat in Grass Lake, MI.
As a GGM, you'll be part of THE GREAT GETAWAY GANG, serving families affected by disabilities through Christ-like encouragement and friendship.
GGMs generally serve as "Getaway Guides" to our campers with a disability, accompanying them on adventures throughout the day and joining the family for meals. GGMs are age 16 and up. Junior GGMs (age 12-15) can come with a responsible adult (parent, friend from church) to serve for the week.
Each attendee with a disability is prayerfully matched with a GGM for the week. You will help care for your family's unique needs while allowing parents/care providers and siblings an opportunity to enjoy activities designed just for them. You'll receive on-site training Sunday and Monday before the families arrive Monday afternoon, so there's no need to worry about a lack of experience!
GGMs are also needed for support roles, such as:​

cafe/snack shop assistant

talent show stage manager

face painting

etc.
Our goal is to enable our families to experience the love of Christ through a fun-filled week of activities, friendships, and encouraging messages with your assistance.
If you love God and love others, and want to put that love to tangible use, then the Hurdling Handicaps Great Getaway is the place for you!
The Great Getaway Schedule
In the mornings:
GGMs accompany children and youthful adults to either a VBS or youth-group style program
In the afternoons:
GGMs join families in activities such as boating, swimming, games, and crafts
In the evenings:
GGMs will be an active part of the exciting events, including a camp dance and the popular, heart-warming HHGG Talent Show

$449 per adult by May 1, 2024
$499 per adult after May 1, 2024

Be Prepared!
Please read the Hurdling Handicaps Statement of Faith before registering.
When you register, you will be asked some basic informational questions. Please be prepared with contact information for three references (friend, professional, pastoral), plus medical info, emergency contact information, etc.

You can save your registration and can come back to it after creating a profile with basic contact information.

• Once you are logged in, fill out the application/registration for yourself and submit the application.

Please also be prepared to pay a $50 deposit.
