MISSION & HISTORY.

Hurdling Handicaps Speaking Ministries, a non-profit 501(C) 3, is a Christ centered speaking ministry founded by motivational speaker Larry Patton in 1985. The ministry's purpose is to show people how the Lord works in extraordinary and powerful ways to help people hurdle life’s handicaps, those physical, emotional and spiritual. Hurdling Handicaps challenges, encourages and gives individuals the opportunity to accept that with Christ working in their lives, they can hurdle any handicap.

By the grace and power of Christ, Mr. Patton’s encouraging words of faith, sense of humor and unsinkable spirit have motivated and inspired groups of all ages all and denominations. He is a proud member of the National Speakers Association and the National Coalition of Ministries to Men.

STATEMENT
OF FAITH.

Hurdling Handicaps Speaking Ministries believes the Bible is the inspired and infallible and authoritative Word of God. (II Timothy 3:15, 16) It is the sole authority, guide and standard for all that we do.

Hurdling Handicaps Speaking Ministries believes there is one and only one true God. He is three persons in one: the Father, He created the world in six days and rested on the seventh day; the Son, He became a man and He lived without sin, died, and rose from the dead on the third day; and the Holy Spirit, He creates, sustains and empowers our faith. (Deut. 6:4)

Hurdling Handicaps Speaking Ministries believes Jesus Christ has provided for our forgiveness and life (Romans 6:4); those who hear this promise and believe it, have what it offers. The salvation of man is wholly a work of God’s free grace and is not the work of human works or goodness. God imputes His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for our salvation, and thereby justified them in His sight. God gives us faith as He gives us His promises. (Titus 3:5-7)

Hurdling Handicaps Speaking Ministries believes each individual is a special creation of the Lord because each of us is created in His image (Genesis 1:26-27) and each of us was purchased at a great price. The price that the Lord paid for each of our sins was the death of His Son, Jesus Christ, on a cross (Romans 3:25-26). Each of us is a special creation in that each one of us is unique. “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14

Hurdling Handicaps Speaking Ministries believes that each of us has some type of handicap, weakness, or obstacle that we need to hurdle in our life. By the grace and power of Jesus Christ we can accept and hurdle any of life’s handicaps.

The cornerstone of the ministry is “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5, 6

SUE PATTON SCHOLARSHIP FUND.

The Bill and Sue Patton Scholarship Fund recipients receive financial assistance for the cost of attending a Hurdling Handicaps Great Getaway, which offers relaxation, rejuvenation, and recreation in a beautiful, serene setting for families affected by disabilities.
